Nommsen
Freelance art historian
Hey, I'm Martina Nommsen
and work as a freelance art historian and author.
After completing my bachelor's and master's degrees in English Literature and Art History at the Christian-Albrechts University of Kiel, I gained my first professional experience as a curator, author, art mediator and research assistant at the Westcoast Art Museum on my home island of Föhr from 2011 to 2016.
My career took me to Basel, Switzerland in 2016, where I worked as an exhibition manager at the Art Centre Basel. Since 2022, I have been jointly responsible for online communication at the Kirchner Museum Davos (CH).
I have been working as a freelance art historian since 2019 and in my work as a curator and author I concentrate primarily on the art historical area of the 19th to 21st centuries. It is very important to me to make art accessible to a broad audience, to break down barriers and to convey exciting insights and information in a clear manner.
